Bilingual Spanish Education
minor
Degree Overview
Hispanic populations in North America are rising, and the numbers are predicted to increase. If you’re thinking about becoming a teacher, chances are good that you will have a student of Spanish-speaking descent in your classroom. By becoming a bilingual educator, you’ll be able to reach these students and communicate with them and their families in their first language.
Calvin is a great place to study bilingual education because Grand Rapids has a large Hispanic community. You’ll have opportunities for teaching experience in a bilingual classroom as well as opportunities for personal connections and volunteering with local Spanish-speakers. And you’ll be challenged to grapple with tough but crucial questions about justice, hospitality, and faith. Plus, our education program is top-ranked, and graduates are in demand around the world.
