You will begin interacting with learners long before you graduate. Explore opportunities for classroom experience in a wide variety of places—from west Michigan to California or Indonesia. A Christian faith foundation informs and deepens your growing understanding of teaching and learning. You'll love and champion students as image-bearers of God who deserve exceptional education and opportunity.
Candidates also complete one of the following:
- Elementary education major
- A certifiable secondary or K‐12 major or minor program
Two semesters of student teaching are required
Special Education Studies is the study of disability, special education, and supports provided to individuals with identified disabilities, including disability theory, historical views, principles, systems, and practices of support. Students earning this minor will become knowledgeable about disability, special education practices, and policies designed to support individuals with disabilities, while not earning certification as a professional educator.
