Knight Nation Pep Band is a music ensemble that performs regularly at men’s and women’s basketball games.
This group is all about playing fun music well, supporting our athletic teams, and making lasting friendships. Pep Band is open to any Calvin student with previous band experience. Our ensemble includes flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, horns, trombones, baritones, tubas, drum set, and electric bass.
Participating students are either selected as a “core” member or participate as a “general” member. “Core” members comprise a small group of musicians within Pep Band, limited to a set instrumentation. These players are determined by auditions that include a short, prepared piece and sight-reading. “Core” members make the commitment to attend EVERY event on the schedule. “General” membership is then extended to all other Pep Band musicians. These members are invited to attend as many rehearsals and games as possible throughout the season.
