ENGINEERING FACULTY OPENING: FULL TIME, TENURE TRACK
The Calvin University Department of Engineering invites applications for an open tenure-track position to begin August 2020, pending administrative approval.
Desired Education and Experience
Candidates should have completed a Ph.D. (or be near completion) in engineering by the time of appointment or have completed at least a master’s degree in engineering combined with PE licensure or MBA and significant industry experience (15 years or more). The ideal candidate would be able to teach multiple 300-level courses in one of the following areas:
- chemical engineering, or
- water resources/environmental engineering.
Candidates should also be capable of teaching a variety of courses at the 100 and 200 level in the general engineering curriculum. Tenure track faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching as well as have a track record of (or strong potential for) scholarly achievement in a liberal arts setting.

- Calvin faculty members must be committed to the educational mission of Calvin University as a Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church.
Calvin faculty members must be aware of and committed to effectively establishing relationships and positive communication across multiple dimensions of diversity, including but not limited to ethnicity, gender, physical limitations, class, or religious perspectives.
Calvin faculty members normally teach 22-24 semester hours per year. They are expected to pursue an active scholarly agenda, to advise undergraduates, and to serve on college and departmental committees.

To be considered for an interview, applicants must submit: (1) a letter of application indicating interest in and qualifications for teaching at a Christian university, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) a 1-2 page written statement by the candidate on how he or she seeks to express his or her Christian faith, particularly with respect to engineering and teaching, and (4) a one page statement of teaching philosophy. Electronic copies should be emailed as PDFs. The letter of application should clearly address the requirements of the position, including a complete list of courses that the applicant is qualified for and interested in teaching.
