Get involved in French department activities

Language education in the French department doesn’t stop when you leave the classroom. You can also get involved through activities such as bi-weekly French-language chapels, weekly Pause Cafés and the annual French Film Festival.

Activity highlights

  • French chapel meets on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the Meeter Center Lecture Hall, located off the Library Lobby in Hiemenga Hall (map), unless otherwise noted. For specific dates and times, check out our events page.

  • Pause Café is held at different times in the afternoon (depends on the week) for a half hour. It is held in a classroom in Hiemenga Hall, to be announced at the beginning of the fall semester. You can take a break for French conversation with an upper level French student leader and fellow French students. For specific dates and times, check out our events page.

  • The French Christmas party is held every year in the Meeter Center Lecture Hall. Join fellow classmates and French faculty for bûche de Noël and singing.

  • Senior Breakfast takes place in May and is an opportunity for French seniors to congratulate one another and celebrate their academic accomplishment over some good food.

  • The French Film Festival takes place in September and features some of the best new films to emerge from French cinema.
