Bring renewal into every corner of society

In a hyper-partisan world, is it possible to work together toward the common good—or even agree what the common good is?

It is possible. But it takes people with commitment and conviction to lead the way. People like you.

As a member of the Common Good Collective, you’ll actively contribute to a better society well before you graduate from college. You’ll research, listen, and act alongside your professors, peers, and community members, grounded in the Christian commitments to love God and neighbor. You’ll get involved in real-world projects right here in Grand Rapids neighborhoods near Calvin's campus. You’ll even have opportunities to expand your learning and impact on off-campus spring break trips. On those trips, you’ll see firsthand what obstacles stand in the way of healthier societies—and how community members are working to overcome them.

It’s hard work, but it’s good work. Do that work in the like-passioned cohort of the Common Good Collective as you grow into an agent of renewal in your communities.

Next Steps

Applications for the fall 2024 incoming Common Good Collective cohort are still open: Apply by February 12.

What you’ll experience in this cohort

Diverse perspectives - Like other Calvin cohorts, the Common Good Collective welcomes students from any major. That means you'll be working side-by-side with peers who have different perspectives, interests, and areas of expertise. Together, you'll be a living example of the kind of collaborative work that's needed to build more just and grace-filled communities.
Incredible mentors - Your professors won't just know you personally—they'll talk to you about your career goals and mentor you individually as you work out a plan to attain them. You're in this together.
Practical opportunities - You'll find all kinds of student organizations and community connections where great work is being done. You'll have the chance to get involved with, and maybe even lead, these efforts.
Tailored to you - Work with your professors to create a cohort experience that is custom-built to make the most of your unique interests and talents.
