Reactivation of Ancient Water Delivery System in Jordan
Basic information
- Dates: January 2017–2019 or 2020
- Department(s):
- Faculty researcher(s):
This project deals with the condition and operation of an ancient water system and the state of the current surface water supply.
- The first step of this project is evaluation of the system's surface water supply. This involves delineating the water basin, assessing the quality of the water, hydrologic modeling, and flooding mitigation.
- Next, we will assess the current condition of the system through mapping and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
- Finally, we will evaluate the system's future operation — its adequacy to the demand for water of surrounding communities. This will involve designing options for the repurposed system, providing optimized capacity with minimized archeological compromise.
