COVID Response / Campus Events

Events at Calvin during the fall semester have been strictly limited in keeping with local, state, and federal guidelines. In most cases, traditional events have been reimagined as virtual events to allow the community to attend remotely.

RESTRICTIONS FOR THE FALL SEMESTER

If you want to reserve a space on campus for a meeting, gathering, or event, please know:

  • If the space is indoors, the event capacity should not exceed 10 people of 2 different households. (Per the MSHHS and the State of Michigan’s phase four guidelines. The exception is if the event is clearly for academic/instructional purposes.)
  • Even if the gathering/meeting/event is for 10 people or less, we still ask that you first consider if gathering can happen outdoors or virtually.
  • If the event is approved, you must still reserve the space.
  • Eating during gathering is not permitted.

NOTE: The above guidance applies to internal gatherings of the Calvin community on campus.

EVENT CAPACITY AND POLICIES

Events and services have been adjusted in accordance with these key strategies:

  • Adjusted attendance maximums, physical distancing and mask-wearing
  • Students first: Limit to student attendees with virtual options for others
  • High-hygiene environment
  • A mix of virtual/live-streamed and in-person strategies
  • Lines separated/distanced through lobbies and using separate entrance to performance spaces where applicable
  • Sanitize venues daily or after occupancy
  • Signage listing precautions in public areas
  • Remote/virtual sessions with the artist/speaker for students/faculty prior to events when available
  • BOX OFFICE
