"The Value of a Liberal Arts Education: Combining Computer Science and Japanese"
Justin will speak on his experience in the computer science industry. He wants to demonstrate why narrowly focusing on STEM classes is not enough to reach your full potential, why a solid liberal arts core can be a great investment, and why one of the smartest things you can do is immerse yourself in a radically different language like Japanese or Chinese.
Justin Searls graduated from Calvin College in 2007, splitting his degree among liberal arts, computer science, and Japanese. He leans on all three disciplines in his career as a conference speaker, consultant, and leader at his company, Test Double, which he co-founded in 2011 with a mission to fix some of what is broken in the software industry.
