“Godly leadership is not about attaining recognition or glory; it’s about serving others.”
—John M. Perkins, Leadership Revolution
Calvin's John M. Perkins Leadership Fellows are a small group of students who are selected to participate in a series of leadership development opportunities during their first two years of university. These opportunities prepare Perkins Fellows to address big issues like poverty, injustice, racism and materialism. Perkins Fellows strive to be servant leaders who are committed to renewal and restoration of our communities.
This program includes specially-designed leadership courses, dinners with prominent Calvin leaders, and several opportunities to give back to the community through service. Freshman members of the program reside in community on the Perkins Floor in the Residence Halls. Sophomore members of the program are given an opportunity to reside in community at the Perkin's Fellows Leadership House.

In Their Own Words
I have greatly appreciated the relationships I have made through being in Perkins and feel like I’ve gained a deeper understanding of biblical justice. This program has allowed me to challenge my own ways of thinking and grow in my leadership skills.” Melanie Parangalan, Student
The Perkins Program played a critical role in who I am today. The ability to align my passion for financial planning, learning how to be a servant leader, and standing up for what is right has equipped me to work for more than a degree. Being a part of a cohort with motivated individuals continually pushed me to work and strive toward achieving Dr. Perkins' vision. Kieychia, staff mentor, is a soundboard and amazing support person. I can explain ideas with her as well as be motivated to take on new initiatives.” Michael McGillivray, Student
Getting accepted was one of the most impactful moments of my life. I knew as a first-generation college student I could use the support of a program like Perkins Leadership. This program challenges each student to learn about social injustices in the world around us. Learning about John M. Perkins and how to be an agent of change has encouraged me to do the same with my career path. Learning about his career inspired me to incorporate practices he used.” India Bond, Student
