College learning

Entrada scholars take a 3 or 4 credit hour course with current Calvin University students.

Scholars are assigned an academic coach: a trained teacher who will attend classes with them and lead a study period with the scholars following the class. Academic coaches teach scholars how to be successful in both their specific courses and in college.

College credit

Entrada scholars take one college course in subjects such as history, biology, philosophy, communications, or psychology. If completed successfully, the scholar will earn 3 or 4 credit hours. For scholars who come to Calvin, the credit and grade value become part of their Calvin academic record. For scholars who do not come to Calvin, the Calvin registrar’s office can assist with transferring the earned credit to their school of choice.

College living

Entrada scholars come from all over the United States and experience four weeks of work worship, and play. Outside of class, they have access entertainment, games, and service-learning activities. Worship services at local churches, Bible studies, and daily devotions allow scholars to enrich their faith in God. Scholars may use campus facilities, e.g., gymnasium, pool, computer labs, library, music studios, etc. Scholars will forge friendships and build a community.
