Jon Foreman is the lead vocalist/guitarist for the multi-Platinum rock band Switchfoot. Formed in San Diego, CA in 1996, Switchfoot has since sold over 4.5 million albums. The band released three independent records, including the Grammy-nominated Learning to Breathe, before its breakthrough album, The Beautiful Letdown (2003), which was certified multi-Platinum. Each of Switchfoot’s subsequent studio albums—Nothing Is Sound (2005), Oh! Gravity (2006) and Hello Hurricane (2009)—debuted in the Top 20 of The Billboard 200. Most recently, the band won a Grammy for Hello Hurricane. 2008 brought Foreman’s first solo releases: Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer, a series of four acclaimed EPs. The following year, he and Nickel Creek’s Sean Watkins released their first album together as the acoustic duo Fiction Family. Foreman, who has written numerous articles on humanitarian issues for the Huffington Post, is committed to effecting change on both local and global levels. Switchfoot has partnered with Habitat for Humanity, the ONE Campaign, To Write Love on Her Arms and the John M. Perkins Foundation. Civil rights activist Perkins inspired their Top 10 hit, “The Sound (John M. Perkins’ Blues).”
