Choral Masterworks

Dr. Pearl Shangkuan established the masterworks concerts in 2016 that brought in world-renowned conductors including Dr. Joseph Flummerfelt, Dr. Anton Armstrong and Maria Guinand as well as American composer Dan Forrest. The 2024 edition is the final concert of Dr. Shangkuan as she steps down from her position as Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Calvin while continuing with her national and international work. This concert will be a hymn festival to be led by the Calvin Capella, Campus Choir, Women's Chorale and Alumni Choir with an orchestra and featuring great hymns of the faith and choral anthems. Those who have sung with Dr. Shangkuan in her Calvin choirs over the past 25 years are especially welcome to attend and lend your voices to the congregational choir.
