This year marks the 80th anniversary of the publication of C.S. Lewis's Abolition of Man, a book described as "an all but indispensable introduction to the corpus of Lewis's writings." The Henry Institute for the Study of Christianity and Politics at Calvin University and the Center for Religion, Culture & Democracy will sponsor two public plenaries marking this occasion featuring Michael Ward and Carl Trueman.
On Friday, March 24, Michael Ward will present “The Sublime Waterfall?” from 4-5pm. Michael Ward is an English literary critic and theologian working at the University of Oxford as a member of the Faculty of Theology and Religion. He is also employed as Professor of Apologetics at Houston Christian University in Texas. Ward is the author of a number of books, including Planet Narnia: The Seven Heavens in the Imagination of C.S. Lewis and co-editor of both The Cambridge Companion to C.S. Lewis and C.S. Lewis at Poets’ Corner. He studied English at Oxford, Theology at Cambridge, and has a PhD in Divinity from St. Andrews.
A second lecture by Carl Trueman is scheduled for Saturday, March 25 from 11am to noon.
The lectures are free and open to the public.
