March’s topic is The Future of Sports. From ancient times, sports have been a cultural force that shaped civilizations and controlled entire societies. As a business it is estimated to generate between $500 billion and $1.3 trillion in revenue. Please plan to join us on March 9th at 8:00 AM as Dr. Brian Bolt, Calvin University, and Dr. Chad Carlson, Hope College, share the historical roots of sports and how it has evolved over the centuries. They will explore the meaning and purpose of sports; the role that faith plays in sports; and where it’s all heading. They will also discuss one of the most storied rivalries in sports: the Calvin – Hope rivalry and why it doesn’t include football.

Dr. Chad Carlson is kinesiology professor and director of general education at Hope College, and Dr. Brian Bolt is dean of education and a coach at Calvin University. Brian and Chad co-directed the 2nd Global Conference on Sport and Christianity in 2019.
