The Calvin Executive Breakfast Series connects, informs, and engages the business and organizational community with interesting and informative content delivered by Calvin University voices.

Imagine getting on a plane in Chicago and landing less than an hour later in London, or Paris, or Honolulu. It may sound pretty far-fetched, but the reality is closer than you think! Join us on November 15 to hear Sass Duggleby and Chris Palmer of Venus Aerospace talk about the Future of Hypersonic flight and the Venus Stargazer(TM) Spaceplane.

Sarah “Sassie” Duggleby - CEO and co-founder, Venus Aerospace

Sassie Duggleby is the CEO and co-founder of Venus Aerospace. Before launching Venus, she was Launch Systems Engineering and Mission Management Consultant at Virgin Orbit, where she also developed and tested launch software and telemetry systems, helping to launch rockets from the wing of a 747. She has spent her career growing multiple high-tech startup businesses including fiber-optic test (Luna Technologies), biotech (Ecolyse / Phage Biocontrol), and hazardous trailer manufacturing (Exosent). Engineer and MBA, serial deep tech entrepreneur who is passionate about women in tech. Honoree of Inc’s 2023 Female Founders 200 list. Recently created the “Bada$$ Women in Aerospace” networking group. Mom of two, avid lover of outdoor activities. Named herself Sassie at 2 and it stuck.

Chris Palmer - Director of Corporate Strategy, Venus Aerospace

Chris Palmer, 2006 Calvin alum, joined Venus Aerospace as the Director of Corporate Strategy in 2022. The move to Venus allows him to combine the passion he has had for aviation since childhood with his professional expertise in corporate strategy. Chris is also a serial entrepreneur with several social impact ventures/startups under his belt including PhotoUp which makes a positive impact on the lives of 250 employees globally with meaningful employment. Prior to joining Venus, Chris was managing corporate strategy for Steelcase, a global design and thought leader in the world of work and was teaching Entrepreneurship at Calvin University.
