Earl D. Fife, PhD CISSP CFCE CCE
For more than 10 years, I have been a Special Deputy of the Kent County Sheriff Department tasked with performing digital forensics on devices related to suspected crimes. (My lab was located in the same complex that houses the Kent County Jail, but not an area behind bars.) During my work for the Sheriff Department, I performed well over one hundred exams on digital devices involving a wide range of crimes ranging from prescription fraud and identity theft to armed robbery and homicide. In this talk I will present the process I go through to retrieve relevant data along with inherent difficulties in processing the device. I will also give a brief review some of my more memorable cases.
