Students camping somewhere near the lake

This is designed for those who want to split their time between enjoying northern Lake Michigan beaches with half-days of scenic coastal road biking. Enjoy cycling, Northern Michigan's beautiful beaches, stand-up paddle boarding, and more!

It all begins with a half-day canoe trip down the Pine River. From here, your time will start in the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lakeshore and conclude on the straits of Mackinac at Wilderness State Park. This journey includes river and beachside camping in Platte River, Leelanau State Park, Traverse City State Park, Fisherman's Island State Park, Petoskey State Park, and Wilderness State Park. Daily bike mileages will be moderate. The trip concludes with a full day on historic Mackinac Island.

Day 1—Trip Orientation, skills clinic, and team building

Day 2—AM Pine River Paddle; Camp at Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes

Day 3—Cycle from Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes to Leelanau State Park

Day 4—Cycle from Leelanau State Park to Traverse City State Park

Day 5—Cycle from Traverse City State Park to Fisherman’s Island State Park

Day 6—Cycle from Fisherman’s Island State Park to Petoskey State Park

Day 7—Cycle from Petoskey State Park to Wilderness State Park

Day 8—Mackinac Island Day Trip; Return to Calvin by 7 p.m.
