CEAP Poster Session: 9 Elements of a Sustainable Campus

  • Thursday, December 7, 2017
  • 4:00 PM–5:15 PM

Celebrate Calvin’s long history of creation care and witness President LeRoy’s signing of the Second Nature Climate Commitment. Author and sustainability champion, Mitchell Thomashow will share principles from his book “Nine Elements of a Sustainable Campus."

What are the best ways to coordinate campus-wide approaches to environmental sustainability? Building on his experiences as a university president and a higher education sustainability adviser, Thomashow will discuss innovative ways to organize nine connected elements—energy, food, materials, governance, investment, wellness, curriculum, aesthetics, and interpretation. There will be special emphasis on the strengths, potentials, and possibilities for Calvin College.

Following Thomashow’s presentation, student CEAP projects this semester will be on display in the Chapel Undercroft, along with refreshments.
