Jean Kilbourne discusses "Can't Buy My Love: How Advertising Corrupts Relationships."

The average American is exposed to more than 3,000 ads a day all of which encourage us to develop a relationship with things. Whether it’s the ice cream that comforts us, the nail polish that makes us feel wild or the car that carries us away from it all, products promise that they can be trusted when people let us down. But the assurance of advertising leaves us hungry and unsatisfied because the products we love can’t love us back.
