Through the creative process, composers are able to develop full-scale pieces from just a handful of notes. Some choose to employ a carefully ordered “series” of pitches, whereas others rely on “cells” as the basis for further motivic development. Featuring the music of such gifted composers as John Adams, Richard Rodney Bennett, and Ingolf Dahl, the Calvin Wind Ensemble will offer a diverse program rooted in musical fragments. Audience members are encouraged to bring their mobile phones to participate in the performance of Cody Brookshire’s latest piece, Honeycomb. You won’t want to miss an interesting and enjoyable evening comprised “Sets, Series, & Cells!” The concert takes place on Saturday, November 11 at 8pm in the Covenant Fine Arts Center Auditorium.
TICKETS: Admission is FREE; tickets are not required.
