We will be honoring Ralph Honderd, kinesiology professor emeritus.

About the award

ralph honderdAt its February meetings, the Calvin Alumni Association Board voted on the annual Faith and Learning Award, a way for Calvin alumni to thank their professors for excellent teaching, Christian commitment and lifelong impact. Each year, an emerita/us professor is chosen, based on alumni nominations and recommendations. This year's recipient is Ralph Honderd of the kinesiology department. Ralph will be honored by the board at a dinner celebration on Thursday, May 19.

From a nomination: "Dr. Honderd demonstrated integrity in the classroom and in one-on-one guidance. His words and example remain with me today. A well-beloved coach, athletic director and professor, Dr. Honderd has been an important encourager of PE teachers and coaches in many schools. He continues to this day helping Coach Ross with the post-players on the women's basketball team. Another significant contribution he's made is in the area of education and spiritual development of persons with cognitive disabilities through Friendship Ministries. The father of a cognitively-disabled daughter himself, professor Honderd has always made ample room in his busy life to promote awareness and more inclusiveness for all."

If you have a memory of Professor/Coach Honderd to share, you’re welcome to do so by emailing alumni@calvin.edu.
