The Dice Museum welcomes the North-Central Geological Society of America meeting to Grand Rapids at Grand Valley State University on 3-5 May 2023. We invite all interested participants and friends to visit the Dice Mineralogical Museum at Calvin University while in Grand Rapids. 

Bruce Dice Mineralogical Museum Open House:

The Dice Museum is hosting an open house reception for conference participants and their friends on Wednesday, 3 May 2023 from 3-5pm. Attendees will be given a short introduction to the Museum and then ample time to view the collection. Attendees can get to the Dice Museum as part of a conference field trip (transportation provided) or on their own. See details below:

  • Participants who pre-register through the NC-GSA website are provided with transportation by van to the Dice Mineralogical Museum. This field trip has a $10 fee. Participants should meet at the conference registration area in GVSU by 3pm for departure. The vans will return to the conference center at 5pm.
  • Participants can make their own way to the Dice Mineralogical Museum. See the maps to get to Calvin University and to get to the Dice Museum when you are on campus.
  • Admission to the Dice Museum is free.
  • Attendees will be given a short introduction to the Museum and then ample time to view the collection.
  • Refreshments will be provided.

Museum Open Hours on Thursday and Friday:

The Dice Mineralogical Museum will be open from 10am to 5pm on Thursday (4 May) and Friday (5 May) for conference visitors and others. 

  • Docents are available to provide a Museum tour and/or you are welcome to explore the collection on your own. The Docents are undergraduate geology majors at Calvin University.
  • Visitors of all ages are welcome. The Museum has some self-guided activities (mineral, rock, and fossil scavenger hunts) that are especially enjoyed by younger visitors.

Informal Geology Alumni Gathering for Calvin University:

The Department of Geology, Geography, and Environment is hosting an informal alumni gathering at the Dice Mineralogical Museum on Thursday evening from 7:30-9:30pm.
