Why did you choose your major?
Following my freshman year, I took the Intro Geology field course in Montana. I was instantly hooked and became a Geology major that coming fall.

Life after Calvin
- I completed my Master's in Geology at the University of Toledo in 2014. My research focus was on coastal stratigraphy and barrier island transgression in the Assateague Island region.
- I finished a PhD program at the University of Delaware. I worked with a team of coastal engineers to understand current circulation near Indian River Inlet, Delaware.
What are you doing now?
I am now a Glacial/Surficial Geologist for the North Dakota Geological Survey.
Advice to current students
- Study hard and enjoy every minute of Calvin. Take as much math and physics as possible.
- Go to conferences and meet other students and professors. The connections made at conferences can be the difference getting accepted to graduate school.
