Memories of Calvin

  • Great Field Trips (Montana, Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and many others)
  • Superior Professors

What at Calvin preprared your for your career?

  • Calvin's wide array of geology course offerings
  • The writing and speaking skills gained at Calvin were very helpful coming into graduate school.

Life after Calvin

  • I completed my Master's in Geology at the University of Toledo in 2014. My research focus was on coastal stratigraphy and barrier island transgression in the Assateague Island region.
  • I finished a PhD program at the University of Delaware. I worked with a team of coastal engineers to understand current circulation near Indian River Inlet, Delaware.

What are you doing now?

I am now a Glacial/Surficial Geologist for the North Dakota Geological Survey.

Advice to current students

  • Study hard and enjoy every minute of Calvin. Take as much math and physics as possible.
  • Go to conferences and meet other students and professors. The connections made at conferences can be the difference getting accepted to graduate school.
