The timeline for applying for financial aid varies by the type of student. Follow these steps to receive the maximum consideration for scholarships and financial aid.

- Apply to Calvin
- Apply by December 1 to have your application fee waived.

Apply for need-based financial aid
Starting: October 1
- Obtain an FSA ID for both you and your parent at www.studentaid.gov.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov.
- 002241 is the federal school code for Calvin University.
- Optional: Submit a Special Circumstances Form to inform us of any additional factors impacting your ability to pay for Calvin.
- Search and apply for need-based named scholarships by January 31.

- Approximately one third of families are required to submit additional documentation for a federal process called verification.

- If you have paid your $300 deposit and it's after May 15 you may accept your loans (log in required).

Federal Pell Grant
Need is determined by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Student Financial Aid). The Financial Aid Office will determine eligibility.

Loans
Most students who complete the FAFSA and who are enrolled at least half time during the summer are eligible for federal loans. Private loans are available to students who are enrolled less than half time for the summer term. A summer loan may affect the amount of loan the student will receive during the following academic year.
