Unlike most schools, all transfer students at Calvin qualify for financial aid awards.

$3,000 Transfer Student Award
Qualify for the $3,000 Transfer Student Award!
You'll earn it automatically when you apply and are admitted to Calvin. It will renew automatically (for a total of five years) as long as you are making Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Academic Scholarships
Academic scholarships are determined based on your performance (GPA and test scores) in high school and prior college/university.
Calvin is test optional, so if you don't submit test scores, we'll only use GPA will be used to determine your academic scholarship.

Calvin-sponsored National Merit Scholarships are awarded to students selected as National Merit Finalists by the National Merit Corporation who select Calvin as their first-choice university. This award is offered in addition to Calvin’s $20,000 Trustee's Scholarship.
- Amount: $2,000
- Availability: 4 years
- Renewal Criteria: Recipient is making satisfactory academic progress. National Merit Finalists that require a fifth year of study will be eligible for the $2,000 Calvin National Merit Supplement.
Guidelines
- National Merit Finalists are eligible to receive a National Merit Scholarship sponsored by one of the following organizations: National Merit Corporation, other participating corporations, or Calvin University.
- Finalists are only eligible for one National Merit Scholarship.
- Finalists must select Calvin as their first-choice university with National Merit Scholarship Corporation to receive a National Merit Scholarship.
- Finalists can change their first-choice university with National Merit before May 1. Undecided finalists have until May 31, to select a first-choice university.

Starting October 1: Complete the FAFSA
Obtain an FSA ID for both you and your parent and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.studentaid.gov. 002241 is Calvin University's federal school code.
Starting Calvin in spring? Use the current year FAFSA.
Starting early January: Submit requested documentation
If you have submitted a FAFSA, provide any requested documentation. Approximately one third of families are required to submit additional documentation for a federal process called verification.
December 1–January 20: Apply for Named Scholarships
Named Scholarships are funded by generous donors and awarded based on your interests, studies, and achievements. With a single application, you’ll be automatically considered for scholarships where you meet the donor’s requirements. Most students match the requirements for 50-60 scholarships! So be sure to apply each year.

Receive Your Financial Aid Summary
Starting February: Review award letter
Starting in mid- to late-February, we send out official financial aid award letters. Look for an email in your inbox and a letter in the mail! You can also log into your Calvin Workday account to view current financial aid awards and to upload any requested financial aid documents.
Optional: Submit a Special Circumstances Form
The Special Circumstances Form informs us of any additional factors impacting your ability to pay for Calvin.
Confirm Enrollment and Accept Loans
May 1: Pay enrollment deposit
Make your final decision and confirm your enrollment by May 1 and ongoing for U.S. citizens ($300), or by June 1 for International students ($2,500) and Canadians ($300).
Starting Calvin in the spring? Confirm your enrollment by January 5.
Starting May 15: Accept loans
If you have paid your $300 deposit and it's after May 15, you may accept your loans (log in required). If you have trouble with your log in check the Calvin Information Technology page for new students.
