Will my credits transfer?
The answer is individual to each person, but here is some general guidance:
- Completed academic courses that are similar to ones found at Calvin are generally accepted.
- Courses completed with a minimum ‘C’ grade will be evaluated. (Some programs, such as nursing, have higher academic standards to be meet program-specific requirements.)
- An unlimited number of credits can transfer from an accredited four-year institution. (However, there are specific credit requirements that must be considered for their requirements.)
- Up to 70 credits can transfer from an accredited two-year institution.

To help the process move along:

- Review the core pages in our course catalog. Compare these pages with the preliminary transfer evaluation from your admissions packet to see how your courses match up with Calvin’s core.
Transfer resources
Explore Calvin's list of pre-approved transfer courses.
- If your school or your courses are not in the list, we may still accept credit. Request a personalized credit evaluation for better results.
- Equivalencies listed in this database do not require additional approval.
- Coursework that applies to Calvin’s major or minor requirements must go through a final assessment by their respective departments.
- Understand Calvin's transfer policy before registering for the pre-approved transfer equivalencies.
Calvin’s World Languages I core requirement can be met:
- By finishing the second college semester (Beginner II) of any one language.
- With a high school exemption for having three sequential years in high school ('B' grades or better).
- If you are a multilingual student, the requirement could be waived with confirmation of eligibility. Students can request more information from the Registrar's Office.
If you have some language experience you will take a world language assessment prior to orientation. This will help us best determine your language level.
When your transfer coursework is complete, an official transcript can be mailed to Calvin to:
