Calvin’s Human Services degree is built for adult learners just like you. Not only will the program give you the opportunity to develop the skills you need to serve others well, it’s also designed with busy schedules and competing priorities in mind. 

Through this interdisciplinary major, you will examine societal tensions and the root causes of suffering and injustice. You will also learn about human relationships and behavior dynamics, focusing on communications that facilitate meaningful change. You’re ready to take on more responsibility, to lead others and make an impact for good – at your workplace and in your community. Calvin’s interdisciplinary Applied Leadership degree completion program will equip you to lead those around you with skill and insight, opening the doors to higher level career opportunities. 

By taking classes in business as well social sciences, you’ll understand the why behind how people behave, the how behind organizational success, and the who that you want to be as an emerging leader. Through your coursework – which is both broad and deep – you will be equipped with tools to understand the value of the diverse range of people on your team as well as the societal structures underpinning all organizations.

Introduction

This program is offered to students enrolled in the Calvin Prison Initiative. The vocational goals of graduates include leading worship, discipling fellow inmates, mentoring short-term prisoners, reducing violence in prisons, and lowering the recidivism rate. Students prepare for vocations in society, including careers in congregations, parachurch organizations, community development, and social agencies.
