Senior Year Coursework
Most English majors take ENGL 395: Senior Seminar and ENG 380 during their senior year
When planning for your senior year, take note of when are offered:
ENGL 395: Senior Seminar is offered in FALL semesters, and
ENGL 380: Internship is offered in SPRING semesters.
Talk to your advisor if you’re double-majoring or need options for taking these courses during your junior year or during a different semester.
In order to be ready for the internship course, students should plan to prepare and apply to internships in the fall semester prior to starting the internship course.

Options for Double Majoring with English
An English major pairs naturally with almost any field of study. Our new option to add English as an “additional major” gives you greater flexibility to combine English with another major, making it easier to pursue multiple interests and prepare for the career you want.

English Courses and Calvin Core
You can fulfill a number of categories in Calvin’s core with English department courses.
Note: the literature offerings are so-called “shell courses,” which means that the title describes a general category of literature, but when it is offered, a more specific content title is applied (e.g. Later British = shell; Victorian literature = specific course).
