  • Well-being and Independence Students will develop healthy habits that balance individual responsibility and social experiences.
  • Transitioning Well A dedicated team of support staff works with each student to help them gain the skills and knowledge to make the transition into adult life. Calvin faculty value each student’s unique gifts and situation, and work with students individually to help them achieve their goals.

  • Practical: Real-world clinical experience is at the heart of our program. You'll have the chance to learn at top-rate hospitals like Helen Devos Children's Hospital, Trinity Health Grand Rapids, and others in Grand Rapids’ extensive medical community.
  • Widely-respected: Our program has an excellent pass rate on the NCLEX exam. Calvin graduates are sought after in hospitals, schools, clinics, and more across the nation.
  • Justice-driven: We care deeply about the issues that surround nursing, human health, and justice. You'll gain new perspectives on healthcare through work or study abroad or in underserved communities here in the U.S.
  • Versatile: If you decide not to pursue a nursing degree, you're well set up to transition to one of many different healthcare programs--without wasting time or classes.
Introduction

Ask Calvin nursing students why they’re studying here, and you’ll hear a lot of different things. They might talk about their amazing clinical experiences at nearby hospitals, clinics, or other facilities. You’ll hear their plans to study abroad. They’ll share their plans for after they pass the NCLEX exam: maybe a job at a place like Vanderbilt, or a grad program at Johns Hopkins.

And you’d expect to hear those things about a top-rated nursing program like Calvin’s. But keep listening, and you’ll hear those same students talking about professors whose doors are always open. They’ll describe a spirit of community, not competition. They’ll tell you about the Spanish-speaking patients that they encounter each week in the Burton Heights neighborhood.

You’ll hear about a program that’s centered on service, and driven by deep Christian faith.
