Calvin University in 2025: A Year in Review

The 2025 calendar year at Calvin University was on one hand historic, with the university kicking off its 150th anniversary festivities. On the other hand, the year was full of all the hallmarks students have come to expect. News & Stories highlights four of these hallmarks in this special Year in Review.

Calvin University touts its commitment to teaching. U.S. News & World Report agrees, listing Calvin #1 for undergraduate teaching in its Regional Midwest category in its 2026 Best Colleges Guidebook.

Professors at Calvin are also active scholars and researchers who are well-respected in their fields. From Fulbright to ABET, from the American Academy of Nursing to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Calvin professors were honored in 2025 for their contributions to their disciplines.

Invited into rare and robust research

Students are regularly invited in as partners in faculty research projects. In 2025, this included students making major discoveries, earning prestigious research awards, and coming up with exciting solutions. The Carnegie Classification even recognized the institution for its robust research program which includes research not only in the sciences, but also in the humanities, arts, and social sciences.

Equipped with the skills to stand out

The value of a Calvin liberal arts education was on full display in 2025. Advertising and design students cleaned up at their industry’s preeminent award ceremony, accounting students passed the CPA Exam at the second highest clip among 283 mid-sized universities across the country, pre-health students got accepted into grad schools at a rate double the national average, and students on Calvin’s Model UN team stood out on the national stage.
