Thanksgiving Break Housing

10 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21 – 8 a.m. on Sunday, November 26

Thanksgiving Break Housing Registration

  • Registration for Thanksgiving Break housing is required for all students remaining on campus.
  • Students must register by Monday, November 20: www.calvin.edu/go/thanksgiving-break-housing. 
  • Students may remain in their campus housing placements.
  • There is no cost for Thanksgiving Break.
  • The dining halls will remain open.

Winter Break Housing

10 a.m. on Friday, December 15 – Noon on Sunday, January 14

Winter Break Housing Registration

All on-campus (KE and residence hall) students requesting to remain on campus must register for Winter Break housing. Registration deadline is Sunday, December 3. Any late registrations will be charged a $50 late fee. Please be sure to sign up early to avoid late fees!

      • $25 per night -OR- flat rate of $500 for full 4 weeks of break
      • Current KE residents will not be charged for break housing but are required to register by Sunday, December 3.
      • All late registrations will result in a $50 late fee (KE and Residence Hall residents). 
      • Current KE residents will not be charged for break housing but are required to register by Sunday, December 3.

      • Cost
        • $25 per night -OR- flat rate of $500 for full 4 weeks of break
        • $50 non-refundable deposits will be charged upon registration and are due Friday, December 15.
        • The remaining balance will be applied the week of January 16.
        • Late registrations will result in an additional $50 fee.
      • Options
        • Stay in current room
        • Move to an apartment in KE (Full break only)
        • Stay with a friend in KE (only charged non-refundable $50 deposit)
        • All housing assignments are based on availability.
      • The dining halls will be closed during Winter Break. Students are encouraged to explore off campus dining options including food and grocery delivery services.

Spring Break Housing

10 a.m. on Saturday, March 2 – Noon on Sunday, March 10

Spring Break Housing Registration

All Calvin University policies apply during Spring Break.

All on-campus (KE and residence hall) students requesting to remain on campus must register for Spring Break housing. Registration deadline is Monday, February 26. Any late registrations will be charged a $50 late fee. Please be sure to sign up early to avoid late fees!

      • KE Apartment Residents: No charge but must register.
      • Residence Hall Residents: $25 per night or $150 flat rate for the whole break
      • Note: There will be a $100 fine (plus the nightly charge of $25 for residence hall students) to anyone who remains on campus without registration. All Spring Break housing fees will be charge to your account after the break has ended.
    • For Spring Break 2024, both KE Apartment residents and residence hall students will have the opportunity to remain in their semester housing assignments. Registration is still required.

    • The dining halls will be closed during Spring Break. Students are encouraged to explore off campus dining options including food and grocery delivery services.

Summer Break Housing

Friday, May 3 – Monday, August 26*

Summer Housing Application Form

All students needing housing after May 3 are required to fill out the Summer Housing application form, regardless of length of stay.

Calvin University is a convenient and safe option for summer living close to campus. The KE apartments have full amenities, a competitive rent rate, and an RA staff who plan community events throughout summer months. Summer housing applications are due Friday, April 19. Any applications after this date will incure a $50 late fee.

*Students not living on campus in the fall will need to move out by Noon on August 19.

      • Summer Break housing charges are listed below. In addition to these charges, those who register after the April 19 deadline, will be charged a $50 late registration fee. Students who remain on campus during Summer Break without an approved application, will be charged the appropriate charges below in addition to a $100 fine. Billable nights for Summer Housing begins on May 3 and ends on August 25.

        • $2,000/Entire Summer
        • $150/Week (cap at $2,000)
        • $25/Night

        • For residents only needing transitional housing from May 3 - May 5: Your total payment ($25/night) is due by May 3. If you are a graduating senior or have an approved special circumstance, your fee will be waived.
        • For residents needing summer housing during May 3 - August 25:
          • The due date for all summer housing charges is Friday, May 3.
          • You will be charged upfront based on the days/weeks you requested housing.
          • If your plans change and you check out early or stay later, your account will be adjusted accordingly.
          • You may pay through Workday or online: www.calvin.edu/go/summer-rent (for students who are graduating and no longer have Workday access)
        • Students working at the graduation ceremony
        • Graduating seniors
        • Students given special permission by the housing office

        • Calvin summer school students (classes that take place in May, June, July, and/or August)
        • Students with on-campus jobs
        • International students
        • Students with off-campus jobs

      • The residence halls will be closed during Summer Break, therefore all students requiring housing after May 8 will be staying in the Knollcrest East Apartments.

        Due to the high demand for housing, students will be placed with apartment-mates and roommates at various points throughout the summer.

      • The dining halls will be closed during Summer Break. Each KE apartment is equipped with a full kitchen to store and prepare food. Cooking utensils are not provided but can be borrowed via check-out at the KE front desk.
