Professor Johnson graduated from Calvin College with honors in English in 2004. She then earned her MA (2006) and PhD (2009) from Purdue University, specializing in rhetoric and composition. From 2009–2014, she taught writing and directed the writing program at Xavier University.
Professor Johnson's hobbies include going to the playground with her husband and toddler son, DIY home projects and reading the New York Times.
Professor Johnson’s most recent article, “Writing Program Assessment and the Mission-Driven Institution,” was published in Writing Program Administration in 2014. She has also published in College Composition and Communication, Rhetoric Review, the Journal of Communication and Religion, andPedagogy. Her current projects include articles on scholarly writing manuals, conceptual framing and public rhetoric, and corpus linguistics.
