As Christians, we believe that human beings are embodied as creatures made in the image of God. By studying kinesiology at Calvin, you’ll not only get a top-notch education, but you will also explore how God reveals himself in a myriad of ways in the moving bodies of the people he created.
Kinesiology students go on to find jobs in many fields, with 67 percent of the 2018 graduating class going to graduate school in medicine, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and other areas.
Exercise Science
You will gain expertise enabling you to pursue a vocation with a broad spectrum of clients through personal training, cardiac rehabilitation, health club leadership, or corporate fitness programming. You will be well-prepared for further graduate studies in exercise science, nutrition, physical therapy, occupational therapy, sports medicine, and general medicine. Learn more »
Pre-professional Programs
As a kinesiology major with a pre-professional emphasis, you can choose from pre-physical therapy, pre-physician assistant, or pre-medical. Kinesiology directly supervises our pre-physical therapy. As a physical therapist, you will help your patients to improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disability. Therapeutic Recreation
Work in hospital or clinical settings with a wide variety of patients. Calvin's program offers the opportunity to be certified as both a therapeutic recreation specialist and as a child life specialist, which will help you land a job in a variety of places like at-risk youth homes or rehabilitation programs.
