What are the strengths of Calvin's Pre-Health Program?

A main strength of Calvin's pre-health program is Dr. LaRue. She is a great director and very personable. She was willing to meet with me several times to go over my application to PA school, answer any questions I had, and even read and edited my personal statement several times. She is so knowledgeable about each pre-health track and was able to give me advice when it came time to decide which schools to choose and interviews to take. Calvin's pre-health program has several connections to schools and provides students with several opportunities, like the pre-health club.

What were some of the highlights for you on your pre-health journey?

Some highlights from my pre- health journey included being able to tell Dr. LaRue and some of my professors about interview offers and acceptances! I was in a very small capstone class fall of my senior which had other senior pre- health students and it was so fun to hear about their acceptances and keep up with their journeys as well.

Why did you choose Calvin?

Going into college I knew that I wanted to study biology and go to PA school. I searched for a school that would help me achieve that daunting goal of getting into grad school. Calvin is known for their rigorous academics and smaller class sizes. I wanted a place that I could get to know my professors and have them as potential mentors. I also wanted a place that my faith could be intertwined with my learning, especially studying life science like I did with my biology degree. Professor Bebej teaches human anatomy as well as comparative anatomy and he does a great job at constantly pointing towards God as the creator in the things that he teaches about. Calvin helped me achieve my goal of getting into my top PA school on the first try and gave me opportunities like leading a club, playing softball, getting to know my professors, and growing in my faith.
