Jonathan Umran

Biography

Hello! My name is Jonathan Umran, and I am a TCK (third culture kid) from Cairo, Egypt, though I will claim anywhere as home as long as there are people there who make me feel loved and seen. I work for Calvin's International Student Services office, where I help oversee International Orientation, the International Student Association Committee, and day-to-day logistics for the international community.

As a student at Calvin, the international staff poured into my personal and professional development; I cannot wait to do the same for you all and help Calvin feel as welcoming to you as it did to me. So please stop by my office! I love writing and music and movies and sports and chocolate and lively conversations that are full of laughter. But I also love interactions that are real: difficult discussions about mental health, personal identity, and cultural dysphoria. Whatever it may be, I cannot wait to see all that the Lord has in store!
