Experience your future

Dive into a hands-on, career-focused week, and learn how your passion could become a career. Open to students who have completed their freshmen, sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school are eligible for this program.

Choose a field of study that interests you, and spend a week on Calvin’s campus investigating your career options. You’ll engage in sessions with Calvin faculty who are experts in their fields, meet students from around the country, and experience college life and learning.

Digital Filmmaking Students
Digital Filmmaking ~ Prof. Sam Smartt

Interested in learning how to tell compelling stories through video? You'll visit a variety of worksites in Grand Rapids to see professionals in action and learn about their careers, and take a tour of Voyage Pictures.

History student
History ~ Prof. Katherine van Liere

See careers related to the field of history: museums, archives, criminal justice. Visit the Grand Rapids Public Museum and meet professional historians to learn about what they do. Through personal interviews and research, you will contribute to a collaborative class blog on public history.

Nursing students
Nursing and Pre-Health ~ Prof. Adejoke Bolanle Ayoola

There is flexibility and variety within nursing—clinical and community work settings—. We will explore unique opportunities and tour facilities on campus (Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex, nursing simulation lab), and in town (Helen Devos Children's Hospital).

    Due to a limited number of spots, deposit is non-refundable. A payment plan is available for the full amount payment option. Each field of study has a limit of 10 participants, accepted on a first come, first served basis.


    You’ll spend mornings participating in creative, hands-on sessions led by Calvin faculty. In the afternoons, you’ll engage directly with people in your field of study through job site visits and other opportunities arranged by Calvin’s Career Center.

    Daily schedule

    9 a.m. Begin classes - the departments will have unique and dynamic activities and experiences for scholars to engage in during their week within the course

    We believe that all our offered programs this year will provide you with a unique and fulfilling experience.  To ensure that you get your desired program, make sure to apply and send in your deposit early; this secures you first selection in the program.   


     The non-refundable deposit is meant to ensure that when your student applies for field of study, they will get into that program by securing their spot at that time with the deposit. In the unlikely event that we would be unable to run the program, the deposit would be refunded.
