New Scholarship for MDOC Employees and Their Children
Calvin University is expanding access to higher education through a new scholarship designed to support those who serve Michigan’s correctional system and their families.
Beginning fall 2026, the Marceco Foundation Scholarship will provide a $6,000 award for Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) employees and their children who are pursuing a degree at Calvin. MDOC employees play a vital role in Michigan communities, often working in challenging and demanding environments. This scholarship recognizes that service by investing in employees and their families.
This scholarship further strengthens the relationship between Calvin University and MDOC, a long-standing partnership that impacts the criminal justice system in our region.
A Scholarship Designed to Support Access and Opportunity
The Marceco Foundation Scholarship reflects provides funds to improve, empower, and instill hope in individual lives through education as a pathway to growth, opportunity, and long-term stability. By easing financial barriers, the scholarship opens doors for MDOC employees and their families to take the next step toward a Calvin degree. The scholarship provides one annual award of $6,000, which is renewable for up to two years for eligible recipients.
It is available to:
- Current MDOC employees or children of MDOC employees
- Accepted as a full-time undergraduate, degree-seeking student at Calvin University
- Demonstrate some level of financial need
- Priority will be given to those who have a connection to the Richard A. Handlon Correctional Facility, where CPI is located
Available for Several Undergraduate Pathways

A Continued Commitment to Educational Access
The launch of the Marceco Foundation Scholarship aligns with Calvin University’s mission to expand access to education and to form meaningful partnerships within the community. For MDOC employees and their families, the Marceco Foundation Scholarship represents more than financial support—it’s an invitation to imagine what’s possible through education.
