The Calvin College Ecosystem Preserve will host "Nature Detectives: Wild Wetlands" from June 26 to June 29. This camp is for children ages 6 and 7 and will be held at Calvin each day from 9 a.m. to noon. Campers will become nature detectives exploring wetland and woodland areas and their inhabitants. Cost is $40. Registration forms and brochures are available by calling 616-957-6200. 
The Calvin College Music Department will present a free organ recital on Friday, July 7 from noon to 12:30 p.m. as part of its July Recital Series. The recital will be performed by Calvin junior Jana Bos in the air conditioned Calvin College Chapel. Free and open to the public. Call 616-957-6253.

The Calvin College Summer Seminars in Christian Scholarship will host a public lecture on Tuesday, July 11. Dr. Lamin Sanneh of Yale Divinity School will speak on "Christian Expansion and Social Renewal: Reaping Where Others Sowed." The lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Gezon Auditorium and is free and open to the public. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A and then a reception. Call 616-957-8558.

The Calvin College Summer Seminars in Christian Scholarship will host a public lecture on Tuesday, July 18. Dr. Miroslav Volf, Henry B. Wright Professor of Theology at Yale Divinity School, will speak on "Transgression, Memory, and Love." The lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Gezon Auditorium and is free and open to the public. The Calvin College Education Department and the Paul B. Henry Institute for the Study of Christianity and Politics will host a talk on Wednesday, July 19 by Charles Glenn. It is free and open to the public and will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center. The talk is based on Glenn's recent book called "The Ambiguous Embrace: Government and Faith-Based Schools and Social Agencies." In his book, Glenn builds a case that faith-based organizations should play a far more active role in American schools, that they can do so while receiving public funding, and that they must do so by forging a suitable balance between accountability and autonomy. Glenn is Professor and Chairman of Administration, Training, and Policy Studies at Boston University School of Education. Author of a variety of books, including The Myth of the Common School and Educating Immigrant Children, Glenn is recognized as a leading expert in the field of education and served for many years as the Director of Urban Education and Civil Rights for the Massachusetts Department of Education.
