Ministry Leadership Minor

Undergraduate Program On Campus

What You'll Learn

Discover how your studies and experiences—in any discipline—can contribute to the life and health of the church.

At Calvin, you'll learn how to confront injustice and promote renewal in your community, whether it's through preaching, teaching, service, evangelism, or faithful work in your career. But you won't just be handed a book—you're invited to volunteer in the community and complete an internship that immerses you in the daily habits and joys of ministry. All along the way, you'll ask challenging questions about how your learning and perspective can help sustain the life of the church.

With a minor in ministry leadership, you'll discover how your major, no matter what it is, can work toward justice and hope in your church community, neighborhood, and professional field.

What Makes This Program Great

  • Complements any degree: This minor is specially designed to complement and bring extra depth to any major.
  • Choose your focus: Pick from many different areas of emphasis, like community development, music in worship, youth ministry, and pastoral ministry.
  • Practical experience: Apply to join the Jubilee Fellows program, and get hands-on experience through an intense 10-week ministry internship in your junior year.
  • Pre-ministry guidance: If you're considering a career of Christian ministry, you'll get valuable coaching through Calvin's pre-ministry program. You'll be counseled by instructors who know the joys and challenges of ministry, and who will help you decide if it's the right path for you.
