Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once commented: “Music is liquid architecture; architecture is frozen music.” On November 14, the Calvin Wind Ensemble will explore the correlation between musical composition and physical structures. Music by J.S. Bach and Guy Woolfenden will celebrate music’s formal construction, whereas works by composers John Philip Sousa, Kathyrn Salfelder, and James David utilize musical ideas to depict design in physical spaces. The entire program is centered around a landmark work in the concert band repertoire: Ingolf Dahl’s Sinfonietta. This will be a unique concert experience you won’t want to miss!
