The Rare Disease Network, along with Calvin University, Corewell Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, MSU College of Human Medicine, Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services and Van Andel Institute, will host its 7th annual Rare Disease Day Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Prince Conference Center on Calvin University’s campus.

This free event will bring together people with rare diseases, caregivers and families, medical professionals, researchers, advocates, and students to share knowledge and experiences, while encouraging and supporting one another.

This year’s gathering celebrates the strength and perseverance of the rare disease community. Our keynote speakers will spotlight the vital work of the Rare Disease Advisory Council, sharing how they are driving meaningful changes in Michigan’s rare disease landscape. We will also hear inspiring stories from adults living with rare diseases who are finding innovative ways to thrive.

Breakout Sessions will offer attendees the opportunity to:

  • Navigate Rare Disease in Uncertain Times: Explore strategies for managing care, accessing resources, and building support networks.

  • Keep the Momentum in Research: Learn about the latest advancements, ongoing studies, and how to stay engaged in the research community.

  • Discover Career Opportunities in Rare Disease: Connect with professionals and organizations making a difference and explore pathways to contribute to this impactful field.

The event will include lunch. In addition to hearing from keynote speakers and attending breakout sessions, participants will have the opportunity to engage with one another and visit information tables hosted by various advocacy and service organizations.
