The Healthy Dialogue Series presents a conversation about 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture, a feature documentary that follows the story of researchers who trace the origins of a particular 1946 translation of the Bible. It chronicles the discovery of archives at Yale University which claims to cast doubt on any biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice. Featuring commentary from scholars as well as opposing pastors, including the personal stories of the film’s creators, 1946 has sparked conversation that is at once challenging, enlightening, and inspiring.

Following the showing of the film, Trevor Thompson (adjunct professor in Calvin's Department of Religion and Senior Acquisitions Editor at Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company) will guide us in a conversation with Dr. David Lincicum (Professor of Theology at Notre Dame University) and Dr. Jeffrey Weima (Professor of New Testament at Calvin Theological Seminary).
