Tartuffe & the Hypocrites breathes new life into Molière’s classic tale as wealthy businessman Orgon welcomes the young religious zealot Tartuffe into his home. Chaos erupts on the weekend of Orgon’s daughter’s wedding when he announces that she will no longer marry her fiancé, but Tartuffe instead. Determined to stop the forced union, Orgon’s family, led by his longtime partner Elmire, employ every strategy they can to change his mind before Marianne is compelled to marry against her will. Exploring the intersections of love, religion, and wealth, Tartuffe & the Hypocrites offers a sharp and timely examination of hypocrisy in the spirit of Molière’s original vision for his enduring masterpiece.
