Discover hidden gems in southern France while learning about Huguenot and Reformation history in the region

Highlights

The south of France around the Mediterranean (roughly from Toulouse to Nice) has long been a crossroads of natural beauty and culture. From ancient Romans to medieval troubadours, from Cathars to early French Protestants, from popes to renowned artists, people have flocked to "le Midi." Join host Dr. Karin Maag for a ten-day excursion to meet the people who called this land home, hear their stories, and visit the sites that shaped them. Tour highlights include the walled city of Aigues-Mortes, wonderfully preserved Roman ruins in Arles and Nîmes, as well as the Roman aqueduct known as the Pont du Gard; sites associated with Paul Cézanne and Vincent van Gogh; and the enchanting French Riviera.

Tour Host: Karin Maag

Karin Maag has been the director of the H. Henry Meeter Center for Calvin Studies since 1997. She also serves as adjunct faculty at Calvin Theological Seminary, teaching classes on church history and research methods. Her area of specialty is the social history of the Reformation.

Dr. Maag is a popular CALL course instructor, having taught CALL classes for 25 years. She is also a highly regarded tour leader, having led lifelong learning tours to Scotland, Quebec, and Germany / Switzerland / France. She will give three lectures during the tour, as well as providing some commentary on local sites.
