What is the CARE team?

The Calvin Assessment, Response, and Evaluation (CARE) Team is an interdisciplinary group of Calvin staff members working to ensure effective intervention for current Calvin students with safety-related behavioral and/or emotional challenges. The CARE Team typically consists of staff from the following Calvin departments:

  • Campus Safety
  • Center for Counseling and Wellness
  • Center for Intercultural Student Development
  • Center for Student Success
  • Dean of Students
  • Health Services
  • Office of Support, Accountability, and Restoration
  • Residence Life

Concerned about a student's wellbeing?

Concerns (of a non-emergency nature) regarding a Calvin student’s wellbeing can be directed to the CARE Team via the Student Concern form, available to current students, staff, and faculty at Calvin University. Note: Family members without access to the form, please see the contacts available here. Examples of concerns for submission might include behavioral changes, intense emotions, risky behaviors, difficulty functioning, or other signs of significant disruption.

Information submitted to CARE Team members will be reviewed by a member of the team during business hours, and follow-up will be provided directly with the student of concern and/or other Calvin community members as needed. More information about the CARE Team can be found within the FAQ page.
