Starting Calvin in…
- Complete your housing application
We know there’s a great roommate out there for you, and we want to help you find each other.
Calvin’s residence life program has an amazing record for producing successful roommate pairs, and they rely on the information you provide. If you’ve already chosen a roommate, be sure to list each other on your applications.
Note: your housing application won’t be processed until your enrollment deposit is received.
- Choose your orientation program(s)
New Student Orientation involves more than just getting the lay of the land. Register for one of four different orientation sessions offered in the spring or summer. Parents are encouraged to attend, too. But don’t stop there. Optional programs like Wilderness Orientation (think outdoor adventure) help you build community right away.
Featured programsAdmitted Student Day is a one-day spring orientation program – April 12 – for admitted students and adult family members.
PASSPORT I, II, or III are one-day summer orientation programs designed for admitted students and adult family members.
IMPACT Orientation is a summer orientation program designed for admitted North American students of color and adult family members.
International PASSPORT is a six-day program designed for new international students and adult family members.
- Review your financial aid award package
Carefully review your financial aid award package, accept or decline loans, and notify us of any other scholarships and financial aid you are receiving. You’ll need your official Calvin username (shown on your applicant status page) and password to log in.
- Go to Accept Loans
- Choose the upcoming academic year
- Accept or decline loans
- Notify us of any other scholarships and financial aid you are receiving
Federal Direct Loans help make your college education possible, and you can defer payment on loans until after graduating college. Before loans are disbursed you must finalize your loans by completing an online counseling session and sign a master promissory note.
- Complete your academic advising form
You’ll want to be ready for your advising appointment during orientation; be sure to complete your 3-minute academic questionnaire at least 10 days prior to your orientation session.
When will you meet with your advisor? Most orientation programs (PASSPORT, IMPACT or International PASSPORT) have your advising appointment built right into the day’s schedule. If you attend Admitted Student Day, your advising appointment will be scheduled during the summer, either on campus or by Skype or FaceTime.
- Complete additional forms
Regardless of your insurance, you are invited to use Calvin Health Services as your source of primary care while at college. Log into Calvin’s secure patient portal to complete required health and immunization forms.
Additional forms may include:
- Accommodation Request Form – Disability Services
- Photography Release Waiver
- Service-Learning Waiver
