Research
Dr. Wierenga’s research is focused on the promotion of physical activity in youth, using interventions and after-school programs. Specifically, he is interested in investigating temporal patterns of physical activity in youth and how the timing of physical activity bouts influences both daily and long-term physical activity behavior.
He is also interested in investigating how to improve health, wellness, and performance of Division III athletes - including injury prevention and athlete screening, recovery protocol, nutrition education, and equipment advancements.
