Training

  • Faculty
Moodle training for faculty can be found in the CIT Service Center.
  • Student
    MoodleDocs: Student FAQs
    MoodleRooms: Student Help
Note: Documentation provided by both Moodle & Moodlerooms cover a wide range of general topics. Since institutions each configure their Moodle site differently, some of the documentation may not perfectly align with the look of the Calvin Moodle site. You will find the features and functionality to be similar, but the templates or feature placement might look differently.

Moodle Organizations

Each academic department has its own organization. Students are placed in the appropriate department organizations automatically based on their declared majors and minors.

  • The organization leader can add participants or change their assigned roles, but cannot remove participants.
  • Participants will only be removed from a department organization once they have officially changed their declared major or minor with the Registrar's Office.
  • Graduating seniors are removed from department organizations on June 1.

Each residence hall has its own organization. Students are placed in them automatically according to their room assignments. Enrollments for the new academic year will be added on the following dates:

  • Knollcrest East Apartments - July 15
  • Residence hall organizations - August 18

Participants will only be removed from a dorm organization or moved to another dorm organization with their room assignment has been updated by Residence Life. The organization leader can add participants or change their assigned roles, but cannot remove participants.

Faculty, staff or leaders of a club or organization can request to have an organization created from them in Moodle.

  • Organization leaders will have to manually add participants to the organization or remove them.
  • Organizations in Moodle have the same features and functionality as Moodle courses.
  • Organizations can also be set to be subscription-based.
