Calvin teams compete on campus in NCAA tournament
It’s tournament time, and four Calvin athletics teams will begin their quest to earn the college its 12th NCAA Division III title in school history. Two of those teams will begin their run at a title right on campus. The women’s volleyball and men’s soccer teams will host NCAA Division III regional tournaments on campus beginning later this week. The cross country teams, meanwhile, head to Franklin, Indiana this weekend for the Great Lakes Regional meet. Follow all of the Knights’ teams competing in NCAA postseason action November 8-10:
Women’s volleyball
The Knights (28-1) open the 2018 NCAA Division III Tournament on Thursday, November 8. Calvin’s Van Noord Arena plays host to an eight-team regional, which also includes Wittenberg, Carthage, Hope, DePauw, Wisconsin-Whitewater, Ohio Northern, and Greenville.
The Knights first round matchup is with Greenville (23-10) at 8 p.m. Calvin is making its 28th NCAA tournament appearance and 15th straight under coach Amber Warners.
Men’s soccer
The Calvin men's soccer team is hosting a four-team regional in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament this Friday and Saturday, November 9 & 10. Calvin is joined in the four-team regional by Greenville College (15-4-2), Wisconsin-Platteville (12-2-3) and Carthage (12-8-1).
Calvin (17-1) will face Greenville in Friday's opening first round game at 3 p.m. EST. The Knights are making their 16th trip to the NCAA III Tournament, including their ninth in the last 10 years.
Cross Country
The men’s and women’s cross country teams both qualified for the NCAA III Great Lakes Regional meet scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 10, in Franklin, Indiana.
The men's team is ranked 3rd in the nation and has advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships 33 times, including an active streak of 25-straight appearances. The women's team, ranked 22nd nationally has advanced to the NCAA III Championships 28 times in school history, including each of the past 13 years.
